Perspective is everything

When setting up a screenshot, perspective is everything. Capturing your character during an emote gives the viewer a sense of difficulty in the shot. Backgrounds are also key as they add depth to your shot. Your goal is to get the viewer to spend several minutes staring at your picture enjoying all of the details within it. Here's some of my personal shots:

Personal Uniform

I thought it'd be a great idea if I posted one of my own personal outfits. I created this uniform as my "official" Republic outfit. I went with a special ops style look that can still be dressy. Anyways, without further adieu...

Arcturus

The first outfit submission has come in the same evening I created the blog! That's a fantastic start!

This outfit comes from Leonardo Myst on his character Arcturus! His style is interesting as he's based most of his outfits on Marvel Comic's mid-’80s Micronauts series. (Pretty specific if you ask me!)

Who is @irishrovers?

Who am I? I don't know...

Actually I do, and I'd be glad to tell you! I've been involved in MMOs for years. I've done everything from WoW, to APB, to STO, to CoH, to Drakensang, to Firefall, to DayZ, to PW, to AoW, to... heck just about anything. I find MMOs to be a fascinating social experiment. Each MMO's community has developed in a unique individual way. For example, anyone who plays STO will know that chat channels play an important role in end-game. To get a good STF group, or to obtain access to Elite Fleet weapons, or find DOFF missions, you need to be part of a channel dedicated to that. However, in WoW, being in a good guild is the solution to all of your problems. In WoW, I had the distinct pleasure of being a member of the first ever level 25 ALL GNOME guild. Now, this may not seem like much, but just organizing a guild made exclusively of one race... and that race being only gnomes, is an astronomical task. (Which, by the way, is one of the least popular races in the game.) Then, get that guild to max level, which in itself is a huge accomplishment. We had a lot of fun times, but what I learned from that experience is that MMOs are truly a social experiment. Seeing how people behave and commune in an online experience is fascinating. In return, I hope this blog can give some assistance to the social evolution of STO specifically.

In STO my handle is @irishrovers. Feel free to contact me in game! Also, friend me on Steam under the name "Irish." If you want to show off your outfits and your character, send me your Character Name, Handle, and .jpg screenshot of your character! Looking forward to all of us working on this cool project to show off our pimpin looks!

Qapla'

Hello, welcome to STO-Style. I made this blog for one reason: to display the multitude of techniques in pimping out your character! Star Trek Online is produced by Cryptic Studios (now owned by Perfect World Entertainment). This means that you're guaranteed lots of character customization! Just look at Champions Online as an example. Not only are there over a dozen races to choose from (as well the ability to create your own alien races!), but there are also tons of clothing possibilities. This blog is dedicated to helping you stand out from the rest of the crowd and wear what no man has worn before!

See you out there, Captains!
